Rustic Cabin-Inspired Craft Ideas
Whether you want to dress up your rustic cabin, or want to give your home a woodsy touch to remind you of your vacation retreat, you can do it with a few craft supplies and a little creativity. Instead of spending a lot of money on cabin-inspired decor at a store, you can make one-of-a-kind pieces yourself at home.
You don't have to be crafty to design the decor items, and your children may even be able to help you with some of the items. When it comes to cabin-themed decor, the more natural and homemade it looks, the better.
From wall decor to dining room table centerpieces, you can craft your own decorations without spending too much time or lightening your wallet. Making your own decor pieces is especially convenient when you want a specific or personalized item and can't find it in a store.
Here are some cabin-inspired decor craft ideas to enhance your home:
1. Picture Frames
You can use customized picture frames to enhance any room in your home, or give them as thoughtful gifts. As one option, gather small twigs from your yard, and cut them to match the lengths of the four sides of a plain wood frame.
Use hot glue to attach the twigs all around the frame, completely covering all sides. It doesn't have to look perfect, as you're going for a rustic look. Fill the frame with a favorite family vacation photo, and hang it on any wall in your house.
2. Pine Cone Centerpiece
A simple way to decorate your dining room room table with a cabin theme is with elements found in nature. In the fall, fill a large, glass, cylinder-shaped vase with pine cones and pine needle sprigs found in your yard.
To use the centerpiece as holiday decor, simply add some faux red berries for a touch of vibrant color. If you don't have a glass vase on hand, you can also place the items into a large wooden bowl.
3. Cinnamon Stick Candle Holder
Another way to give your home a rustic, cabin-themed look—as well as a sweet smell—is with a homemade, cinnamon stick candle holder. Start with an empty, clean, glass canning jar, and attach cinnamon sticks around the circumference using a hot glue gun.
Tie a piece of twine into a bow around the sticks, and place a candle into the jar to finish the craft.
